Welcome to one of the most active, fun and vibrant hiking clubs in South Africa!  If you are not yet a member of the Club, and are interested in joining us, please send an email to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You're also welcome to join a hike within your fitness and preparedness level as a visitor. Our hikes are graded according to fitness and difficulty, from 1 to 5, 1 being considered fairly easy, 5 is considered to require a high level of fitness and experience. Please ask the leader of the hike that interests you for details and advice on that hike.  Note that all members and visitors are required to abide by our Code of Conduct and a leader has the prerogative to decline a request to join a hike for a variety of reasons.  You can find our current fixture list by clicking on the link in our "Get Hiking" article.

All hikers on our hikes are expected to adhere to our Code of Conduct, whether they are guests or members.  Please read it for important information with regard to safety, environment and consideration of others.

Please make sure you contact the leader well in advance of any hike and give him/her your contact details - things can change on a ticky, as we've learnt so often of late! 

Non-members will be asked for a contribution towards the running costs of the Mountian Backpackers' Club, please check details when you commit to your hike.
