 MBC Socials 4th Quarter 2018

 

11th October

Textiles an Untapped Resource A talk on textiles and textile waste. It will touch on the environmental impacts of textile purchases, use, waste and disposal that pertain to everyone's decision-making and actions. 

We will also be having a pancake sale during this social which will take place before and during the talk, we will be asking R3 a pancake. So come along and enjoy something sweet with us for the evening!

Annual General Meeting (AGM) You are all invited to attend and participate in our AGM for 2018/2019. Your input and involvement is crucial to ensure that the club best serves you, and all its members. You may also volunteer a hand on the committee at this meeting, and give feedback to the exisiting committee for the year ahead. 

We would appreciate RSVPs as we will be catering finger snacks for the evening.

Caracal and Mongoose in Ethekwini Jarryd will present to us on some of the research findings from data collected from his research programme in the Midlands. As well as touch on the current project and data collecting in Krantzkloof Nature Reserve and the surrounding D'MOSS areas.

Bees, birds and beasties : Weird and wonderful pollinators of South African flowers Dr van der Niet will showcase the many, often unique, highly specialised interactions between plants and pollinators that occur in the three biodiversity hotspots of South Africa. Timo will focus on systems that occur in montane regions and argue how mountains may be biodiversity hotbeds.

End of year function : bring and braai It's the festive season and we're wanting to celebrate the year with you! Join us for a bring and braai (just bring your own meat),sides and pudding will be catered for, and the cash bar will be available. Members are free, and we ask a below-cost fee of R30pp for all non-members (non-members, family and friends are all welcome).

Directions to Sherwood Bowling Club:

From Durban - Take N3 out towards PMB, after Tollgate take the Sherwood off-ramp and turn right under the freeway in to Jan Smuts Highway, up the hill, past under the pedestrian bridge and at the first traffic lights take a right U-turn to join the opposite lane, drive down and turn left just before the pedestrian bridge, up this narrow lane for about 200m and then turn left through the gate into the Bowling Club parking.

From Westville - take the M13 towards Durban, past Westwood Shopping centre, through 45th Cutting traffic lights, down Jan Smuts Highway, turn left just before the pedestrian bridge, up this narrow lane for about 200m and then turn left through the gate into the Bowling Club parking.

From PMB, from Hillcrest take the N3 past the Pavilion and four-level interchange, take the Sherwood glide-off, keep left in to Jan Smuts Highway, past under the pedestrian bridge and at the first traffic lights take a right U-turn to join the opposite lane, drive down and turn left just before the pedestrian bridge, up this narrow lane for about 200m and then turn left through the gate into the Bowling Club parking.
